                    A Street Hawker



A man who sells various things by moving from street to street is a street hawker. He is a self-employed person. He is the most familiar figure in the cities and towns of Bangladesh. In a village he is also seen. He is illiterate or little-educated. He wears peculiar sound to draw the attention of his customers. His works are tiresome and restless.He carries his materials on head, sometimes in hand, sometimes in a bag and sometimes in a small van. He generally buys his at a cheaper rate and sells them at a good profit. His articles are mainly attractive to the women and children. He usually sells toys, cosmetics, ready-made garments, utensils, sweets, ribbons, fancy goods and things of domestic usage for woman. A hawker also knows the time of his business. He does not come when house masters are at home. Rather he comes when the house masters are out of home and women are free from their household works and duties. Although he works hard, he earns very little and his life is miserable. Almost all the time he leads a sub-human life. When he can't go out for selling his goods because of heavy rainfall or natural calamity, his family falls victim to unbearable suffering . So, a street hawker should be provided with the basic human rights so that he can lead a happy life in society.
